Winter Breakfast Porridge

I have never been the person who would get overly excited about the idea of breakfast. Having a few quick and easy, and also pretty healthy, recipes at hand makes things a lot easier when trying to make a conscious effort not to skip it on a daily basis. Today, I will share one of my favourite breakfasts with you, which is perfect for this time of the year.

Chocolate Porridge with Banana and Cinnamon (vegan)
  • 1 1/3 cups oats
  • 2 2/3 cups soy milk
  • 2-3 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 2 medium bananas
  • cinnamon
  • 1 pack (about 8g) vanilla sugar
  • agave syrup
  • coconut flakes
  • chia seeds
  • puffed quinoa
  • sprinkles
1. First, put your oats and milk in a pan over medium head. Next, add about three tee spoons of cocoa powder, as well as the vanilla sugar and a little bit of cinnamon. Be careful at first, as you can always add more if you’d like. Sweeten with agave syrup if needed, I use about one to two tablespoons.2. Keep this mixture on medium heat until it starts to thicken, while stirring it multiple times. 3. Meanwhile, chop up your bananas and squash them.4. When the porridge has reached the consistency you want it be, add the banana puree to the mix, stir it well and take it of the stove.5. Transfer it to a bowl and add your toppings. I love using coconut flakes, chia seeds (don’t use more than a teaspoon a day), puffed quinoa, and also some fruit or even sprinkles.6. Enjoy!
